Trying Cuts and Transitions





In this task, we were given a list of different types of camera shots and transitions and asked to try and use some of them in a short showreel of sorts. We decided to show someone going into a classroom and doing work.

This is reflected by the fact we later find out he is the star of a television show. It could also have a hidden meaning in that he is at the centre of the shot, and the entire film. Analysis of the micro-elements of film form from a teen film

Analyse the micro elements (Mise-en-scene, Cinematography, Sound and Editing) of film form in a scene from a film in the teen film genre and discuss how these elements create meaning and conform to genre conventions. The film I chose to use was Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986).  Mise-en-scene This clip is set within a classroom, which is a typical location in teen films. I would guess this scene is to help set the scene for the film. The hair and makeup, as well as the costume is very standard for the era the film is set in, and made in, which is the 1980s. There are very large hairdos such as the one 'Adler' has. You also get the common stereotype from American high-school films of certain people like the 'jock' wearing a varsity jacket.
