Individual Response Sheet - The Men Who Stare At Goats (2010)

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD

What are your expectations of the film? Give reasons for your answers.

Based on the title, I am expecting it to be quite funny. I am also expecting over the top dialogue.

Narrative turning points - at what points does the plot change?

The first turning point was when Lynn and Bob were captured by terrorists. The next one is Bob spotting a goat and following it to a spring in the desert. The final one is Bob and Lynn releasing the goats and prisoners.

Memorable moments - what moments in the film stood out for you? Give reasons.

The moment where Larry was at the wedding and said it wouldn't last gave the audience of the character before we met him. Another one was where the water had been spiked with LCD and everyone went crazy.

Emotional response - what was your emotional response to the film? Did your emotions change? If so where and why?

The film was funny throughout, with most of the humour fairly subtle and not forced. The film is set up for you to like and feel sorry for the two main characters, Bob and Lynn.

Did you feel empathy/sympathy for any of the characters? Which were your favourites?

I felt sympathy for Bob, and he was my favourite character. He was shown to be in a midlife crisis, risking his life in order to try and win his wife back.
